Find materials

Use the Helm Library Catalog to search for books and media that are available to you from North Shore and all of the HELM Libraries. 

Use the HELM Library Catalog or the Catalog search box below to search for books & media

Searching for books, ebooks & media:

1. Start by entering your search term (title, author, etc), hit search!
2. On the left side, under 'Refine your search,' expand 'Resource Type'
3. For books and ebooks, select the 'Book' or 'Ebook' resource type
4. For media, select 'CD,' or 'DVD'

Filter by location:

1. On the left side of the screen, select 'Holding Libraries' 
2. To see the full list of available libraries, select 'Show More'
3. For print materials, choose 'North Shore CC - Danvers' or 'North Shore CC - Lynn'
4. For online resources, choose 'North Shore CC - Online'

North Shore Community College is part of the HELM Library Consortium.  This means that if you see a book or media item that looks interesting, and NSCC does not own it, you can still request to borrow it!

1. After you find the item you want to request, check the availability (which library owns the item).  Under the availability you'll see a bookmark icon next to the words 'Place Hold.' 
2. Select the 'Place hold'
3. On the next screen, you'll be prompted to login to your account.  Each member college has different login instructions, so find the option for North Shore.
4. Your username will be the 14-digit barcode number at the bottom of your NSCC ID.
5. Your password will be your DOB in format MMDDYYYY.
6. Once you have logged in, you will be asked to confirm the hold, and the pickup location (you can choose either campus).
7. You'll get an email when the hold is ready. 
8. Please allow 2-5 business days.
